Windows 10 November 2019 Update (Version 1909) is available for download and installation. Microsoft is rolling out the update to all Windows users. We already discussed the features and enhancements included in version 1909 and already know that it is more of a performance fix or a service pack than a full-fledge feature update.
This version is also called Windows 10 19H2. If you go to the Windows Update settings screen, you will see that it is listed as an optional update and you will need to press the download and install button to install it. It will not automatically install, at least for the time being.
NEW: Download Windows 10 Version 2004 now!
Since this is just a performance update, it is recommended that you upgrade your Windows to this latest version. You can also block this update from installing on your computer.

How to get this update now
There are two ways to install this update. If you are running Windows 10 Version 1903 or version 1809, you can get it from the Windows Update. Just run the Windows Update and it will automatically be available for download and installation. Secondly, you can also download the ISO image of Windows 10 Version 1909 and install it either by running the ISO file directly from Windows Explorer or booting your computer from the Windows 10 Version 1909 bootable USB/DVD.
The second way is beneficial if you want to do a clean install of this version instead of upgrading on already existing Windows installation. The Windows Update size of this version is very small as compared to the full ISO image. The ISO image is around 5 GB and it takes time to install or upgrade from the ISO.
Upgrading to Windows 10 Version 1909
To upgrade, follow the steps below:
- Go to Windows Settings (Windows key + I) –> Update & Security –> Windows Update.
- Press Check for new updates button
- Install all the available updates.
- The November 2019 Update will be listed as an optional update. You have to press Download and Install Now to install the update automatically.
A restart is required after the update installation. You can either restart immediately or schedule the restart as the update installation will take several minutes for the upgrade process. The following video is very useful for this complete upgrade process:

Download Windows 10 Version 1909
There are several ways to download and install Windows 10 version 1909. You can go through the list of methods to download Windows 10 November 2019 Update and select whatever is suitable for you. Let me list down the ways here:
- Download using update assistant
- Download using the media creation tool
- Download the ISO directly from Microsoft (available in all languages)
All these methods are discussed in detail in the following article:
Download Windows 10 ISO in all languages
Windows 10 Version 1909 ISO Direct Download Links (Only English)
If you want to download the English version, here are the direct download links from Microsoft.
Windows 10 Version 1909 64-bit English (5.0 GiB, 459,094 hits)
Windows 10 Version 1909 32-bit English (3.5 GiB, 33,150 hits)
These links come directly from Microsoft. We mask the links because the links expire after every 24-hours and a new link is generated. The above-mentioned link will always point to the latest working link from the Microsoft download site.
If you install this version without an Internet connection, the build number will be 18363.418. But since this version is available along with other Patch Tuesday updates, new updates will be installed and your build number will become 18363.476.
If we look at the hardware, Windows 10 Version 1903 and 1909 are the only ones officially compatible with 10th generation Intel processors. Both these versions will also have the same base kernel and system files. Therefore, both versions will get the same cumulative updates in the future. So it’s safe to say that you can upgrade to 1909 safely if you are already running Windows 10 Version 1903. You can check out the Windows processor requirements for all Windows versions here.

Usman Khurshid
In your situation, the best way to go forward is to use the upgrade assistant. It will tell you if your PC hardware is compatible with the latest update of Windows 10. If it is, you can easily upgrade using other methods mentioned in our Windows 10 download article.

Does v 1909 support dark mode in file explorer on both x86 & x64 versions?
Usman Khurshid
I can confirm that dark mode is supported in Windows 10 20H2 but I’m not sure about 1909.

can windows update assistant update my windows to version 1909 without taking me to version 2020? my pc has issues with updating the version saying “Your version of Windows has reached end of service. We recommend you update to the most recent version of Windows 10 to get the latest features and security improvements.” and cannot update any further….or what would you recommend given that I dont want to do a clean installation as it will affect my files and programs that i have purchased
Usman Khurshid
You will need to download the Windows 10 Version 1909 ISO and upgrade your OS from there. The update assistant will take you directly to the latest version of Windows.

Hey I have windows 10 pro version 2004 and my file explorer loads up really slow I was wondering if I can downgrade to 1909 is that possible?
Hanzo
Yes that’s possible because I have try it
Vedant Chhawchharia
Will my existing files from version 1809 still remain after the installation?
Usman Khurshid
Yes, you need to select the right options when upgrading.
Aditya
5 GB, seriously??? How will I make bootable DVD for that? DVDs normally comes with 4.7 GB. Microsoft thinks that DVDs became old and made iso 5 GB. People do not want to always burn 5 gb to 8 gb pen drive as backup.
Usman Khurshid
yup that’s true. You’ll need an 8GB DVD to write this ISO to the DVD. It’s better to do it with a pen drive :-)
Stanley
Thank you sooooooooooooooooooo Much Usman.
this really Works.

I had purchased a copy of Win 10 (Home) retail version on 10 January 2017.
I have updated regularly, and currently I have version 1809 (32-bit).
When I try to update, I am getting the following message:
“You’re currently running a version of Windows that’s nearing the end of service. We recommend you update to the most recent version of Windows 10 to get the latest features and security improvements.”
However, I am not getting the option to update to version 1903 or 1909.
I have a 32-bit installation at present, and want to reinstall to the 64-bit version.
I have downloaded the English version from the direct download links from Microsoft provided by you: Windows 10 Version 1909 64-bit English (5.0 GiB, 68,734 hits)
Can I do a reinstallation with my original Win 10 Home key?
Basically, is the ISO I have downloaded okay for Win 10 home?
Thank you.
Usman Khurshid
You will need to do it manually. You can use Windows 10 upgrade assistant. Here are a few ways to do that:

Hi i want to download this ISO to upgrade my windows 10 to 1909 ver. but it seems i do not have any product key to use.
Usman Khurshid
If you already have Windows 10 installed, the same product key will be used. The upgrade is free of cost. But if you have pirated copy of Windows, then the new Windows 10 Version 1909 will need activation with a valid product key.
danish
what is the product key to use if i suppose to instal it manually using ISO file?
Usman Khurshid
You can skip the product key screen. This will install Windows 10 as an unlimited trial. You can install the product key later when Windows is installed.
Ahmed Hany
the version I’am using is windows 10 pro 1607
Will update 1909 be pro version too?
Usman Khurshid
Yes your Windows 10 Version 1607 will be updated to Windows 10 Version 1909 which is that latest at the moment.
Ahmed Hany
Well what would be the size of the 1909 update
if i update it through a Windows 10 Update Assistant program?
Usman Khurshid
If you upgrade from 1903 to 1909, it’s very small in size, around 500MB. I’m not sure about 1607 to 1909. My guess is that it will be around 2 to 3 GB.
redmabrose
where can i get win10 pro please
Usman Khurshid
You simply have to download Windows 10 Version 1909 (the latest one at the moment) from the direct download links given in this article. Once you have installed Windows 10, it will ask you for a product key for activation. If you have a Windows 10 Pro product key, you can enter it and Windows 10 Pro will automatically be activated. If you have a Windows 10 Home license key, then Windows 10 Home edition will get activated. It really depends upon the product key rather than the ISO image. This ISO image contains all the editions except the enterprise one which can be downloaded from Windows 10 Enterprise download page.
wildan
whether this file can be used to reinstall
Usman Khurshid
Yes it is the complete Windows 10 installation ISO file. You can install and re-install Windows using the same ISO.
Steve
Thanks for the links! I wonder, is it “better” in any way to install the ISO? Is there any difference between upgrading via the updater vs the ISO? Thanks.

I am curious about one thing.
To begin, I run the Dutch version. On my multy boot machine, an older HP sff, I run both the ‘regular’ Pro version as well as the Pro N version.
Strangely enough the November (1909) updat on the regular Pro ran without problems but on the N set it tries and tries and tries. Keeps on telling the update in available, but will not finish.
Anyone got a clue or a workaround?

my computer doesnt want to upgrade to latest version. i just updated right now to 1903 (19023.1). but i see nothing like 1909; despite im looking for updates manually… how to update?
Usman Khurshid
The update is still rolling out slowly. It’ll be available to you in some time. Don’t worry. If you want to upgrade right now, you can download the ISO file and run the installer. It will automatically upgrade your version of Windows to Version 1909.
Win10Geek
Great work. The links work perfectly and point to the same ISO file which is hosted at Microsoft. One thing I must say is that when I have upgraded to the version 1909, and I look at Windows Updates history, I see the following added:
Feature Update to Windows 10 Version 1909 via Enablement Package (KB4517245)
Is this the actual update file? If I uninstall this, will this uninstall Windows 10 Version 1909?
Usman Khurshid
I have tested it in my lab. The computer which upgraded using Windows Update was able to uninstall KB4517245 successfully while the computer which got upgraded using the ISO file didn’t have the uninstall option on KB4517245.
Usman Khurshid
Good point. Let me do a test on my lab computer. I will get back to you with the results.
